Club Kingswood Nursery was inspected by Ofsted on 27 February 2025 and received an overall rating of Requires improvement. In their report, inspectors noted: "The provision requires improvement Children are generally settled and comfortable in the nursery environment. They begin their day by waving a cheery goodbye to their parents and carers when they are met at the main door by one of the kind and caring staff. Older children gain a sense of belonging when they place their coats and bags on their dedicated peg before entering the main playrooms."

Key strengths

  • The management team has further developed its arrangements for supporting staff to understand their roles.
  • Some staff do not use effective questioning to enhance children's communication and language skills.
  • Older children are provided with opportunities to use the nursery garden at specific times each day.
  • Some older children enjoy attempting simple mathematics tasks, where they count and record the number of similar pictures on a worksheet.
  • Parents speak highly of the nursery staff and management.

Areas for improvement

  • review teaching in relation to the use of effective questioning techniques to enhance children's thinking skills to support their learning further
  • consider ways to organise transition times so that children are not waiting for long periods of time, for example to go into the garden to play.
